Daegu Middle High School Hosts 5th Annual College and Career Exploration Day
Daegu Middle High School students learn about future educational opportunities during the DMHS 5th Annual College and Career Exploration Day.

Daegu, South Korea – Daegu Middle High School recently held its 5th Annual College and Career Exploration Day, welcoming students in grades 6–12 to engage with a wide range of professionals, college representatives, and AVID student presenters. The event provided a dynamic platform for students to explore future academic and career opportunities through interactive discussions and hands-on experiences.

Students had the opportunity to connect with representatives from several universities, including Yeungnam University, SUNY Korea, Woosong University, George Mason University Korea, and the University of Utah Asia Campus. These institutions offered valuable insights into their programs, admissions processes, and campus life.

In addition to college representatives, community organizations such as the Girl Scouts, Base Federal Credit Union, Navy Federal Credit Union, and DCSC (Daegu Community Spouse Club) were present to share information about scholarships, financial literacy, and saving for college. These resources helped students and families better understand the financial aspects of higher education.

A highlight of the event was the interactive STEAM station hosted by Mrs. Lewis and Mrs. Aleong, DoDEA Pacific’s District Math and Science Instructional Support Specialists (ISS). Their engaging robotics demonstrations drew enthusiastic crowds and sparked curiosity among students about careers in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics.

High school AVID students played a key role in the event by presenting research on colleges of their choice. These presentations were the culmination of a Project-Based Learning (PBL) unit that emphasized critical research skills, public speaking, and peer feedback. Under the guidance of Ms. Guerrero, AVID students from both middle and high school worked diligently to prepare for the big day.

Daegu Middle High School’s College and Career Exploration Day continues to be a cornerstone event, inspiring students to think about their futures and empowering them with the tools and knowledge to pursue their dreams.
